We all have doubts and uncertainties in our lives and at some point, we might find ourselves at an impasse, not knowing exactly what we should do.

The word "should" indicates an obligation to do something. Are you obligated to act in a certain way or to decide on certain thigs? To who are you obligated and how will you decide on what you should do?

There’s our way, which consists of pursuing the desires of our own hearts and being obligated only to ourselves, and then there is the way of God almighty. If we're seeking the truth on a matter, we can look to the Word of God to measure ourselves and to find out what we should do. When we forfeit our own ways and yield to the Lord, he will lead us on a path of peace and eternal life.

If you’re at an impasse, and you’re wrestling with decisions and thoughts of life-altering changes, then draw nigh to God and he will draw nigh to you (James 4:8).

God sent his Son Jesus to save the world, the lost, the sinners. He won’t leave you to wallow in sadness, he won’t leave you to die in your sins, he won’t leave you in a pit of despair. The Lord loves you and came to save you, if only you’d draw nigh to him.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world;

but that the world through him might be saved.

-John 3:17

If you need counsel, seek ye the Lord in the Bible and pray that your desires might be aligned with His. Pray for the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, to fill you with the knowledge of God and to mend your soul.

"He will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee:

fear not, neither be dismayed."

-Deuteronomy 31:8

The Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name,

he shall teach you all things…

-John 14:26

“The LORD hath made all things for himself; yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.”

— Proverbs 16:4

2nd Peter 3:9-10 tells us, “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.”

All things, even the seeming prosperity of the wicked ultimately serve the glory of God. The old world was not spared from judgement Peter tells us, but rather it was reserved for it. In Genesis 6 God gave the world one hundred and twenty years to repent through Noah’s preaching and labor on the ark. He is not slack concerning his promises, but patient for elect’s sake. If the salvation of the elect is a sovereign act of God for his glory, then so too is the swift and sudden destruction of the wicked. Proverbs 6:12-15 tells us that the calamity of the wicked shall come suddenly, “suddenly shall he be broken without remedy.”

Beloveds, keep a short account with God and take heed to your ways. There is a time when it is too late. “Surely in the floods of great waters they shall not come nigh unto him.” Psalm 32:6

“Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.”

— Proverbs 1:28-31

“And the LORD plagued Pharaoh and his house with great plagues because of Sarai Abram’s wife.”

— Genesis 12:17

This strange incident in Genesis 12 serves to remind us that God will never make us break one of his commandments (thou shalt not commit adultery [1]), in order to keep another (wives, submit yourselves to your own husband [2]).

Abraham’s faith faltered in this chapter when he instructed Sarah to lie to Pharaoh and join his harem so that Abraham could pass through the land unharmed. At times we seem to think that God is not able to keep his promises unless we help him along in some way. But God was gracious to the point of the pulling down of strong holds [3] to protect Sarah from the blemish of sin. As the apostle tells us,

“There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.” — 1st Cor 10:13

The Bible gives us many examples of Abraham’s faith, obedience, and courage but this surely is not one of them. It is to remind us that all of those good things that he did are not the reason for God’s choosing him to bless the nations through his seed. Foreseen faith or foreseen good deeds cannot possibly be the impetus for God's election, because cursed is every man who continues not in the things written in the law, to do them [4]. Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us [5].

When men fail you, you still have the one who is greater than man, “who is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy.[6]”
