Psalm 82

“I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.” -Psalm 82:6

What an incredible blessing! We have been placed here, children created in the image of God and given dominion over the world. Yet by our lives one would never think that we are the children of God. Carnally speaking, children tend to take after their parents. Do we resemble our Father?

Yet we are His children, if we believe. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” John 1:12-13

And so this life is a marvel. There is a blessing and a curse for the children of God. “They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course.” Psalm 82:5

The world is fallen and full of sin. So Psalm 82 warns us: “I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High. But ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.” -Verses 6-7.

The blood of the lamb slain from the foundation of the world gives us all power to stand blameless before God the Father and be His children. But who will believe this report? Who will remember their Father’s love? With the foundations of the earth out of course it is difficult to walk in the Lord’s way. Yet with God nothing will be impossible.

Amen.
