When Your Heart is Lofty

“LORD, my heart is not haughty, nor mine eyes lofty: neither do I exercise myself in great matters, or in things too high for me.

Surely I have behaved and quieted myself, as a child that is weaned of his mother: my soul is even as a weaned child.” — Psalm 131:1-2

Some things are clear in the scripture and vital to understand in order to have saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Other things in the Bible are more opaque and require a great deal of study and meditation of the word of God to even be able to make an educated guess about. We should never get so puffed up in our knowledge that we behave uncharitably towards our brothers and sisters in Christ.

“And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.” — 1st Corinthians 13:2-3
