Their line is gone out through all the earth[1], and His word is forever settled in heaven.[2]There are more Bibles in circulation right now in more languages than ever before. And yet professing Christians are probably on average no more biblically literate now than they were in the Dark Ages. We have been commissioned to take this word out into the world and teach all nations[3]. Friends, how can we teach something we don’t know ourselves?!
A prudent man foreseeth the evil and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.[4]If you are in Christ, your life is hid with Christ in God.[5]Meanwhile, the way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble[6].”
First, we must have compassion on the lost and intercede for them before God in prayer as Moses did in Exodus 32:11-14 and the Lord did in Luke 23:34. Then we must take this authoritative and inspired word of God to peoples, nations, tongues, and kings. Yes, even those in authority must have the Word of God brought to them. None seek after God[7].
The word of God is sweet to us, but the knowledge of the wrath to come is bitter. We long for the Lord to come and judge the nations in righteousness and equity,[8] but we also know what that will mean for everyone without Christ. Our orders are to preach the word, be instant in season, out of season[9]. We do not know where the good soil is[10], our job is to plant the seeds of the gospel everywhere we can.
